Shoestring Budget Travel – Caramoan Island in Camarines Sur

Oh yeah! Another trip in less than a month after wandering around Manila – Tagaytay. Life is short, travel as much as you can. 🙂

Unlike my Tagaytay trip, this time I didn’t do much. No stressing over where to stay, what to do and what site to visit. My friend did all that, whew! Thank God I got a friend who’s a wanderlust! 🙂 All I needed to do was wait for our scheduled trip, sit back and relax.

( Oops, maybe I did a little stressing on “what clothes to buy for our trip”. )

So we booked a flight to Legazpi instead of getting a direct flight to Naga City. Why? Because it’s way more cheaper! ( Remember that we’re all about budget travel ). Travel time from Legazpi to Naga is approximately 3 – 4 hours. If you can’t take long hour rides and shedding some extra moolah isn’t a problem, then by all means, go book a direct flight to Naga.   ( Bus Fare – 160 Php )

We stayed at Sampaguita Tourist Inn in Naga, the branch near the river banks. We got the familly room for 1,200 Php for a night. Don’t expect too much from this hotel. I can’t think of any good thing to say about this place except that it’s cheap, or maybe we can take into consideration its proximity to the van terminal, the airport and the mall.

The next morning was the most anticipated. We left the hotel around 4 in the morning and headed to the van terminal in front of SM City Naga. We took the van going to Sabang Port.  Travel time from Naga to Sabang Port is approximately 2 hours and van fare is around 100-120 Php.

We arrived at Sabang Port before 7 am. I guess we were a little early as the boat was scheduled to leave at 8 am. Travel time from port to Caramoan is about 2 hours, depending on the weather.  ( Boat Fare – 120 -150 Php )

Finally, we arrived at Caramoan Island! Such a beauty!! We stayed at Rex Tourist Inn and booked their 2 days 1 night package that includes full board meals and island hopping for Php 1,800.00 / head. It’s a pretty good deal, plus we got the chance to meet some of the contestants of Survivors Holland!

The Arrival!

So let the FUN begin! Here’s our travel photo. Caramoan is indeed world-class and at par with the beaches of Phuket, Thailand. ( My blog, my say!) lol
